About us.
We are Ben and Beth. Two self-taught creatives with the world Beneath Our Feet.
After hiring a camper van to drive Scotland's North Coast 500 in 2018, we fell in love with life on the road and knew that it was our future. Road trips across Norway and Canada quickly followed, before the pandemic put a sudden halt to all our travel plans. Not ones to be deterred, we spent lockdown building our first self build camper, a chunky white Renault Master that took us on numerous laps around the UK. But our sights were always set on mountains and adventures further afield and, as soon as the borders were open, we made the leap halfway around the world to New Zealand.
In the two years that followed, we fell head over heels in equal measure for the people and landscape of Aotearoa. Living and working from our Toyota Hiace, we found that the life we'd once dreamed of wasn't as far from reach as we'd first believed and, with our creativity and sense of adventure reignited, it wasn't long before Beneath Our Feet Studio began to take shape.
Fast forward to today and we're back in the UK after a whirlwind 2024 that took us, and our cameras, from the shores of Queenstown's Lake Wakatipu, along the mountainous pilgrimage trails of Japan to the temples of South East Asia. Take a look below to learn more about the team behind Beneath Our Feet.

Ben Southan
Ben is a travel photographer with an insatiable thirst for wild camping. As a telecoms engineer and drone pilot, he spends his days climbing broadcasting towers and taking in the high altitude views. Ben has previously spent time in Denmark creating 3D digital models of mobile masts and honed his climbing techniques on a Winter Mountaineering Course in Scotland. On the mornings when he's not working the AeroPress, you'll find him chasing the sunrise in the mountains.
Beth Edwards
Beth is a project manager, writer and photographer with a decade of experience at creative agencies and studios that include McCann Central and the British Journal of Photography. As a child she would obsess over old copies of LIFE Magazine, sparking a love of documentary photography that later led to a masters in Photographic History. But despite her successes behind a desk, Beth is most at home on the road, editing photos with a view of the ocean and a hot coffee in hand.

Percy
Percy is a 1997 Toyota Hiace. He might have been the youngest member of the team, but that didn't stop him covering over 200,000 km in his time. In fact, as the original Beneath Our Feet headquarters, our home on wheels, as well as the one who got us from A to B, he's pretty much the most important founding member of the team.
Basically, despite being retired, he's still the boss.
